David Wilkes lived in Nashville for fourteen years and taught private students throughout Middle Tennessee. He was an adjunct instructor of woodwinds at the University of the South in Sewanee and was a substitute on clarinet and bass clarinet with the Nashville Symphony. Since 2009 he has taught beginning band at Woodward North in Johns Creek. He performs with a variety of ensembles including the Atlanta Clarinets, Atlanta Freedom Band, Georgia Philharmonic and Tara Winds. As a member of the Tara Winds and the Tara Winds Clarinet Choir, he performed at the 2015 Midwest Clinic in Chicago. Mr. Wilkes earned a Bachelor of Music degree in clarinet performance from Auburn University in Alabama. He then earned a Master of Music degree in clarinet performance from Kent State University in Ohio. He is a member of GMEA, NAfME, C4Atlanta, the Cultural Arts Alliance at Johns Creek and the International Clarinet Association.
