Brad Nelsen is the Director of Bands at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School and Queen of Angels Catholic School in Roswell, GA. He currently performs as 1st Bassoon with the Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra as well as several other bands and orchestras around Atlanta. His bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education is from the Schwob School of Music in Columbus, GA and his Master's in Wind Conducting is from the University of Nebraska (GO BIG RED!) in Lincoln, NE. Mr. Nelsen is an Atlanta native, but has been an established public school band director in Alabama and Arkansas teaching grades 6th through 12th grade for the past five years. He has taught and performed on flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, and bassoon for over a decade. Mr. Nelsen has performed on various woodwind instruments in musical theatre productions including saxophone with the Off-Broadway tour of Chicago. He enjoys working with students of all levels and exploring both traditional and modern music with musicians of all ages. Mr. Nelsen's teaching philosophy centers on the twin pillars of fundamental technique and individualistic creative expression. He is excited to study music with all his students at the New School of Music.
