Tracy Threlkeld, Piano

Tracy has taught beginning piano lessons for over three years. As music student of Clayton State University, she has taken the piano pedagogy class and studied piano for four years. When one of her professors suggested she teach piano lessons, Tracy began teaching her own daughter and another young student. A passion was discovered. What began as an extension of her education has developed into a business and a source of pure enjoyment. She has maintained her small, private studio to this day.

Deborah Beasley , Piano

Deborah Beasley has been teaching for more than thirty years. She has also been pianist for several churches in Georgia and Alabama. She has served as accompanist for various choral groups and jury performers at Georgia State University.
She enjoys teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced students, imparting her love and appreciation for beautiful music of all types. Many of her students have become pianists in church ministries and contemporary groups.

Hannah Fowler received her B.A. in Music Education from North Greenville University, where she studied violin with Dr. Leslie Warlick and Dr. Michael Weaver. She is a certified music educator and plans to pursue Suzuki violin certification in the future. Hannah is a member of the First Baptist Church Atlanta Worship Orchestra and volunteers as an assistant with the FBA Celebration Orchestra. She believes that music should involve both excellence in technique and joy in playing. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys spending time with family, studying theology, reading, and hiking.

Michael is currently a sophomore at Clayton State University studying Music Education. For five years, he has taken lessons under Dr. William Hearn of Clayton State University in various classical guitar techniques and, more recently, has begun studies in Jazz with Prof. Stacy Houghton of Clayton state as well. Michael has experience in Jazz ensembles, pit bands, local performances, and was asked to perform at Clayton State’s public recital alongside upperclassmen in both semesters of his freshman year. He is currently exploring the world of Music Education, having already taken a beginning student over the summer, and having lead through many peer tutoring opportunities all throughout his freshman year. Michael possesses a solid understanding of fundamental Music Theory, and enjoys patiently helping others solve new problems and tackle challenges. Because of this, he works best with beginning students and those looking to put more effort into their self-studies, and also looks to the new school year eagerly.

Jimmie Howell, Jr., Percussion

Jimmie Howell, Jr. has been giving private drum lessons for 17 years. He graduated from Oral Roberts University with a B.A. in Music and a Masters of Divinity. He completed a music teacher certification program at Georgia State University in 2012. He has performed with various local artists in the metro Atlanta area, including studio sessions. He has worked with drum lines of marching bands and African drumming. He has performed in musicals with The Children’s School (TCS) for 12 years, which includes The Lion King, School of Rock, Mulan, and Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. Currently, he is the percussionist at Word of Faith Love Center in East point, GA and a general music teacher in the Clayton County Public School System.

Drew Miller, Piano

Drew graduated in 2014 from the University of Mobile with a degree in Worship Leadership with emphasis in Music Business. During his four year tenure in Mobile, he studied classical piano and participated in music theory and orchestration courses. He also spent two years playing contemporary keyboard and traveling the southeast with Exit 13, a worship band formed by the University of Mobile. Drew is currently serving as the worship leader at Rolling Hills Baptist Church where he sings and plays keyboard. He is also a songwriter and earlier this year had one of his songs For the Now featured in the Joy FM Local Artist Spotlight. He is excited about releasing a self-recorded/produced EP called Worlds in the fall. Drew desires for students to develop a passion for piano and self-discovery in music.

Kimberly Crawford, Voice

Kimberly Crawford has a B.A. in Music, and has teaching certifications in Music Education (K-12), Early Childhood and Kindermusik. Kimberly sang in the Berklee Gospel choir with the likes of Susan Tedeschi and Kenya Hathaway, performing at Symphony Hall and many other venues. She also sang in a jazz ensemble with Paula Cole, with an impromptu appearance by Bobby McFerrin. She performed in many local bands. “Lovething”, a pop/rock band, caught the eye of the producer for Bon Jovi, in a local “Battle of the Bands.” Kim auditioned for Stage Source, and received many callbacks for equity roles. She sang in many local Broadway/Cabaret shows, including The Company Theater. She continued with her love for Gospel Music, while performing on the Worship Team at Crossroads Church in Sharpsburg. She made the first cut for Nashville Star. She is currently singing at North River Church in Pembroke and often sits in with local musicians. Kimberly has taught students from age infant to adult, and tries to bring out each one’s unique potential. In teaching music she combines her passion for music and love for children.

Stacey Houghton has been a professional free-lance musician and educator in the Atlanta area since 1992. He has lived in this area for most of his life, and his musical talents began in his school’s band program. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Valdosta State University and a Master of Music degree in music performance from the University of South Carolina at Columbia. He performs and teaches on various woodwind instruments (clarinets, saxophones, flutes, recorders), and his versatility covers traditional, jazz, and popular styles. He has held music teaching positions at Ken Stanton Music (Marietta), the Georgia Academy of Music (Atlanta), Clayton State University (Morrow), and Georgia Perimeter College (Clarkston). As a private studio instructor, he has taught beginning, collegiate, and professional-level students of all ages for over 30 years with continued success. He currently serves on the faculty at Clayton State University as a professor of clarinet, saxophone, and jazz studies, as well as at the Georgia Academy of Music as the instructor of clarinet and saxophone. Mr. Houghton frequently composes and arranges music in all styles for his professional and university groups, and he is the founder and director of the Clayton Community Big Band at Clayton State University.

Courtney Wallace, Flute, Piccolo

Courtney began playing flute in 1995 and piccolo in 1997. She participated in the District Six Honor Band for six years and All-State for two years while attending Eagle’s Landing Middle School and Eagle’s Landing High School, then continued to study flute under the instruction of Sarah Kruser Ambrose at Georgia State University. While attending there, she participated in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of Robert Ambrose and the Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Michael Palmer. Courtney graduated in 2008 from GSU with a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance.

She has been teaching flute lessons since 2003 and performs in many venues for private parties. Whether a student is a gigging musician looking for additional resources, a school student preparing for auditions, or just beginning to learn what the world of music can be, Courtney would love to work with you!

Alex Shavers , Violin

Beginning her musical studies on the violin at age 11, Alexandrea grew in a musical world. She played throughout her middle school and high school years. During her years at Whitewater High School, she sat concertmaster of the Fayette County Youth Orchestra—now named the Fayette Philharmonic—under the direction of Cindy Wilson. Ms. Shavers was also a member of an elite octet called Strings Attached created by the Whitewater High School Orchestra's director Darilyn Esterline. Strings Attached performed at various venues including: The Governor's Mansion, the Georgia Music Educators Association conference in Savannah, Georgia, and live on Fox 5 news. Alex also performed on stage as a soloist with Mark Wood; Emmy-winning composer, maker of Wood Violins, and founding member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. In regards to teaching, during her senior year, Ms. Shavers worked as a student intern teaching the Sara Harp Elementary School's 5th Grade String Orchestra.

After graduating from high school, Alex went on to study at Valdosta State University under Eastman graduate and accomplished violinist Nina Lutz for two years. Now she continues her post-secondary education at Georgia State University, studying under violinist Dr. Christos Galileas. Alex plans to graduate with a Music Education degree with a concentration area on violin.
